Scherer Inc. offers a complete line of mill rolls for both stationary and portable roller mills. We offer several different makes and models from chilled iron, solid cast rolls to hollow “hardened tubing” style rolls. We can offer them in all different roll face corrugations and shaft designs.
On Site Roller Mill Service
Scherer Inc. offers onsite roller mill service along with our roll exchange program to minimize down time in your feed manufacturing facility. With our roll exchange program, the customer will never have to purchase new rolls throughout the life of the mill. Replacement rolls will always be provided by Scherer Inc. for every roll exchange.
Our service trucks are stocked with common replacement parts for several makes and models of roller mills so parts can be replaced during the roll change process. All of our service trucks are equipped with cranes so we don’t interrupt other operations at the facility.
If your facility currently owns extra rollers for your mill, we can provide just the service work of changing the rollers. Rollers will be transported back to our facility to be reconditioned and stored at our facility until you next need roll change. Roll changes generally take between 6-10 hours depending on the location of the mill within the facility.
Roll Sharpening & Reconditioning
We offer roll resharpening of the cast iron style mill roll. Most of the these rolls are also called “chilled iron” or “white chilled iron” rolls. If you are performing the roll changes with your own maintenance crew, same day appointments can be made so your rolls will be resharpened in 1 day or less. We currently operate 4 corrugating machines along with 2 CNC cylindrical grinders daily to keep up with the customers needs.
New Mill Roll Sales
“Chilled Iron Mill Rolls”: Common and custom sized chilled iron rolls are available for purchase. We order our mill roll blanks exclusively from Balaguer from Spain. Each mill roll is ordered in with out journals so we are able to customize the rolls with specific bearing journal configurations. Chilled iron rolls are commonly found in stationary 1, 2, and 3 pair machines and are solid.
“Hardened Steel Mill Rolls”: This style of mill roll is commonly used in portable and stationary single pair cracker mills. The manufacturing process starts with steel tubing that is welded, machined, heat-treated, assembled, and balanced. These rollers will have a removable shaft design to ease repair costs if the shaft breaks or becomes damaged. All of our rolls are a single piece design up to 54” long and 16” diameter. We stock several common sizes and corrugations of rollers for Henke, Automatic, Peerless, Davis, Harvester, Bearcat, and Renn.
Custom Roll Manufacturing
We offer a wide variety of custom made grinding rollers for all different applications. They can be manufactured from chilled iron, hardened steel, or mild steel. Hard chrome facing for long wear resistance is also available. Please contact our office and we can provide additional information.
